Ten Million Up for Grabs as NEC Season 4 Calls for Entries
The National Essay Competition (NEC) Season 4 has officially opened, offering ₦10 million in cash prizes to young Nigerians ready to showcase their ideas on strengthening the country’s revenue system.
This year’s participants are tasked with responding to the essay question:
“Analyze the challenges faced by the Nigerian Revenue Service in the implementation of the new tax laws and propose practical solutions to address them.”
The competition is open to Nigerians aged 20 to 35, including persons with disabilities, reflecting the organizers’ commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunity.
Submissions must be 1,000 to 1,500 words, typed in Times New Roman, size 12, double-spaced, and submitted in PDF format. A strict plagiarism policy applies, with essays exceeding a 20% similarity index automatically disqualified.
Winners will receive ₦5 million for first place, ₦3 million for first runner-up, and ₦2 million for second runner-up, providing entrants a platform to contribute to national discussions on tax reform, public finance, and accountability.
With the theme, “The pen is ready, the stage is yours,” NEC Season 4 challenges young Nigerians to submit original, well-researched essays and compete for one of the country’s most prestigious intellectual prizes.
